Individuals requiring intravenous medication can receive treatment within the comfort of their own homes through BJC Home Care Services. The BJC infusion team works closely with the physician, patient and caregiver to provide drug therapies and support to help the patients resume normal activities sooner and with fewer restrictions.

Infusion therapy has proven to be a safe, effective and less costly alternative to inpatient care. Diagnoses commonly requiring infusion therapy include infections that are unresponsive to oral antibiotics, cancer and cancer-related pain, gastrointestinal diseases or disorders that prevent normal functioning of the GI system, congestive heart failure, immune disorders, and growth hormone deficiencies.

The BJC Home Care Services Infusion Team:

• Assesses the patient in the home and provides drug administration monitoring

• Educates and trains the patient and caregiver about the therapy
• Provides 24-hour on-call nursing services and pharmacy
