Skilled Nursing Services

BJC Home Care Services provides care, directed by a physician, to help patients be healthy and independent. Skilled nursing care helps the patient improve his or her condition, and prevents the condition from getting worse. The nurse coordinates patient care with other members of the Home Care team, and provides education and training to our patients and their families or caregivers.

Skilled nursing care is provided by a registered nurse (RN) or a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Nursing care is provided on an intermittent basis. This allows families options to keep their loved one at home vs. hospitalization, living in an extended care facility, or having to go outside the home for care.

If individuals are eligible for skilled services, they may receive intermittent home aide services for assistance with personal care. You or your loved one are required to be “homebound” as a condition of eligibility for these services. Home health is covered under the Part A Medicare benefit.
